The Municipality of Gyömrő city entrusted us to construct and upgrade the city’s infrastructure in order to increase the basic satisfaction of the population by measuring their roads and determining the positions of their traffic signs. For the first time the weather was unpleasant, but as we progressed further, on one of the first spring days, our colleagues could start working. The survey took 2 days and during that time we mainly focused on a 90 km long interior road section. First we headed for the northern part of the section then we left off for the southern part of the city, by our car with the GeoMeter device fixed on top. We successfully surveyed all streets, from both directions, in order to make sure we get the most accurate data. After finishing the fieldwork, upon our return home, we began the data processing and evaluation in the ForteMap geoinformatics system. With the help of the uploaded pictures made by our colleagues, the A.I automatically identified the traffic signs by type, then edited and inserted them on the virtual map of the area. Thanks to this, from now on, we just had to sit back and enjoy the possibility of virtual crawling all of the scanned areas, from the comfort of our weather-proof office or home.
