Why cross sections and DEMs matter for linear infrastructures
Either we talk about a highway with many cars a day, or a small street in a community we need information of them for many reasons
Now we look at two use cases of ForteMap3D first is highway M6 in Hungary located in a rainy location. The other is a street in a city called Dunakeszi with a government which has strict construction laws for building's foregrounds because of water drainage and floods.
After the area was surveyed with Geometer, the utility and infrastructure monitoring colleagues were able to inspect possible water drainage failures. What came after the measurement to see how much material (asphalt, concrete) is needed to repair the given section to prevent houses and canals from overflood. The additional site condition informations were gathered from the images provided by GeoMeter. Note that there was still no need to go on site all the work was done from the office.
After the measurements and preparations were done, the repairs were recorded in ForteMap GIS, the repair workers arrived on-site well prepared, saving both time and money for themselves.
